Getting Started

DBCompare is designed to work with any ODBC compliant database.   Before you start using DBCompare, you should verify that an ODBC driver is presently installed for the database you will be using.  To verify that you have the appropriate ODBC driver installed, open the Windows Control Panel and open the ODBC Data Sources applet.

From the ODBC Data Source Administrator, select the System DSN tab and click the Add button.  The Create New Data Source screen will display all installed ODBC drivers.  If a driver is not currently installed for your database, consult your database's documentation or contact the database vendor.  Most database vendors provide an ODBC driver for their database free or charge.

Note: The ODBC Data Source Administrator and the Create New Data Source screens may look slightly different on your computer depending on the version of ODBC you have installed.

Once you have created a new ODBC data source for each of the databases you want to compare, your ready to begin using DBCompare.
