- Login Failed...
- Hotmail security routines require an active account Login Name and the corresponding
valid password. If you do not have a Login Name, you can register for an account through
the home page. If you have a valid account, please try to log in again.
- Time expired. Please re-login.
- Hotmail uses a security feature that automatically logs you out from your Hotmail
session after two hours, in case you have forgotten to log out of Hotmail yourself. Please
go back to the Login Page and log in.
- Logged out. Please re-login.
- You have already logged out of Hotmail. Please return to the Login Page to log in again.
- Intrusion Logged. Access denied.
- Hotmail uses security measures that allow only the Internet Protocol (IP) address with
which you logged into Hotmail to access your email - it bars all other IP addresses from
accessing Hotmail. You may encounter this message if:
- You have logged in on more than one machine. You cannot return to an earlier session if
you have subsequently logged in from a different address.
- You are connecting through a proxy server that changes your IP address within a single
session. If this is the case, you need to contact your system administrator.
- You are no longer connected to the Internet. Your connection to the Internet (your modem
line, for example) may have been dropped. Once your connection is re-established, you need
to log into Hotmail again, even though your browser appears to be connected.
- Cookies Required...
- Hotmail now uses Cookies to verify your account to ensure security. Cookies offer
greater individual security to all people, especially those who use shared terminals or
are behind a firewall or proxy. If you get a Cookies Required error message when
you try to log in, follow these steps to get into your account.
- Cookies: What They Are, Why You Are In Charge
- If you have disabled Cookies in your browser, you need to change your browser setting to
allow for Cookies.
- If your browser is enabled to allow Cookies, you will be presented with an alert box
when Hotmail tries to send you a Cookie. If you reject this alert you will not be able to
access your Hotmail account. If you are using IE the alert box will be a "security
alert" and by clicking Yes you will accept the Cookie. If you are using
Netscape you will be asked whether or not to allow the Cookie. By clicking OK you
will accept the Cookie and be able to enter your account.
- If your browser does not support Cookies then you need to get a different browser. Newer
versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape will support Cookies.
