The Director Screensaver

What is the Director Screensaver?
The Director Screensaver is a set of files created in Macromedia Director. See classic Rock album covers plaster the screen(s), bounce off the screen(s), or off each other!

It has been designed to adapt to any screen resolution - including multiple monitors on the Mac! These files, which provide good examples of lists and trail effects, include extensive programmer comments.

What You Need to Open the Files
You must have Macromedia Director 5 or better. If you don't have Director, you can still view a sample (the Shockwave for Director plug-in is required) or download the fully-functional screensaver for Windows 95.

How It was Designed
The screensaver uses a Movie-in-a-Window (MIAW) concept. One file opens and checks the dimensions of the desktop. Based on these dimensions, an MIAW is opened and fit to those numbers. These dimensions are also used for the graphics to appear all over the screen(s).

View a Sample Here
If you have the Shockwave for Director plug-in, you can look at a scaled-down version of the screensaver here.

Install the Screensaver
You can install a fully functional copy of the screensaver for Windows 95 by downloading the file here.

Download the Director Files
The set of files can be downloaded in .ZIP (PC) or BinHqx (Mac) format. After unstuffing the archive, there will be three files: "start.dir," "album.dir", and "readme.txt".
